Yeasta Privacy Policy

1. Data Collection
Yeasta has no user accounts, no backend servers, and no data pipelines. Everything you create — starters, feeding logs, recipes, guided bake sessions, outcomes, journal entries, notes, and preferences — is stored locally on your device, or synced via your personal iCloud account (Yeasta Pro).
We do not collect:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, IP address)
- Location data
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Contact, photo library, or health data
- Any form of advertising or tracking identifier
2. Data Storage
App data is saved using local storage mechanisms provided by Apple (UserDefaults and local app files). The data stored locally includes:
- Sourdough starters (name, flour type, hydration, notes, feeding schedule)
- Feeding log entries (date, ratios, temperature, notes)
- Favorite and custom recipes
- Guided bake sessions and per-step progress
- Bake outcomes (ratings, notes, photos if attached)
- Journal entries — a unified timeline of feedings, bakes, notes, and outcomes
- App preferences (temperature unit, appearance, onboarding status)
For Yeasta Pro subscribers, this data is additionally synced via iCloud — see section 3.
3. iCloud Sync (Yeasta Pro)
Yeasta Pro subscribers can sync their data across devices using iCloud Key-Value Store, Apple's device-to-device sync service. The following data types are synced:
- Starters and feeding logs
- Favorite and custom recipes
- Guided bake sessions and step progress
- Journal entries and bake outcomes
This data is stored entirely within Apple's iCloud infrastructure and is tied to your Apple ID. Yeasta has no servers of its own and no access to your iCloud data — it never leaves Apple's infrastructure.
4. Subscriptions & Purchases
Yeasta Pro is available as a monthly subscription, annual subscription, or one-time Lifetime purchase, all managed through RevenueCat, a third-party subscription platform. RevenueCat processes:
- Purchase history and entitlement status
- An anonymous device/user identifier
- Product interaction data related to subscription management
This data is used solely to manage your subscription. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking. For details, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Family Sharing is enabled on all Yeasta Pro tiers. Shared purchases are handled by Apple; RevenueCat recognizes each family member's entitlement independently without any change to what data is collected.
Tip Jar purchases are handled directly via Apple's StoreKit 2 as a separate, one-time transaction. No personal data is collected or processed by Yeasta for tips.
5. Notifications & Live Activities
Yeasta uses local notifications — scheduled entirely on your device — to remind you about feedings and guided bake step timers. No push notification servers are involved and no data is sent to any backend.
During a guided bake, Yeasta may display a Live Activity on your lock screen and Dynamic Island. Live Activities run locally via Apple's ActivityKit framework. The recipe title, current step, and timer are shown on your own device only — nothing is transmitted or shared.
6. Third Parties
Yeasta uses RevenueCat exclusively for subscription management (see section 4). No analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs are included. No other third parties receive your data.
7. Affiliate Disclosure
Yeasta may include Amazon links to baking tools, books, and ingredients. As an Amazon Associate, Yeasta earns from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. Clicking these links opens the Amazon app or website; Yeasta does not receive any personal information from Amazon in return.
8. Your Rights & Control
Because Yeasta stores your data locally (and in your personal iCloud if you're a Pro subscriber), you are in full control:
- Delete individual entries, starters, or recipes at any time from within the app
- Clear all Yeasta data via Settings → Data Management → Clear All Data
- Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data
- Manage iCloud-synced data via Apple's own iCloud settings on any of your devices
- Cancel your subscription at any time in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions
